Meknes Agropolis

Agropolis represents the first of Morocco’s competitive clusters dedicated to agribusiness. The project is part of several national strategies:

  • The Emergence strategy to provide Morocco with a strong industrial base generating economic growth
  • The Green Morocco Plan, intended to enhance the country’s agricultural potential, in particular to develop modern and competitive agriculture.

Location in the Meknès-Tafilalet region provides it with many advantages, including:

  • Its strategic position (centre of Morocco, on the motorway Rabat - Fez, near Fez airport, etc.).
  • The importance of its agricultural potential, including its water resources
  • The importance of the food industry, which represents more than half of the industrial turnover in the region
  • The presence nearby of research institutes and higher education
  • The existence in the region of the leading groups in the field of the food industry, which is an engine of development

Agropolis is the reference platform for regional grouping, marketing, processing and distribution of agricultural products. This is a real investment opportunity for operators in the region, enabling them to improve the competitiveness and development of their businesses.

The project will develop key sectors of the region, namely:

  • Milk, cereal and meat industries, mainly for the local market
  • Olives, fruit & vegetable industries, mainly for export

Project components, excluding the ‘smart’ city, are:

  • Agro-Industrial Park A
  • A dedicated logistics park
  • A regional logistics platform (if there is a rail link)
  • Food – a large industry
  • Communal facilities
  • A commercial distribution platform
